Some time ago I watched a documentary all about the fueds people have been having over water. It's not something we tend to think about so much in the West where we can have water whenever we like. It might be that there are a few weeks without water and people begin to panick. There's hose-pipe bans and one year the British government even brought in Native Americans to do a water dance.
One things that I'm really careful about is not buying any more food than really needed. It seems that people go on buying frenzies and buy more than they can possibly eat everyweek. I just can't understand that. Although sometimes it's annoying when suppermarkets do those Buy One Get One Free offers. Often it forces people to buy more than they need but they can't pass up on such a "great offer
I know that there is all the talk of solar energy being the way forward. The problem is that so many of the biggest energy consumers are in places that really don't det all the much sunlight. I'm one of these people. I would truly love to have solar roofing shingles on my house and garage roof but where I'm located I don't get a helluva lot of sun. It's just not worth the energy invlved in producing these in the first place
I hate to drive my car more than I need to. If I just need to pop down to the shops for a few bits and pieces then I'll go on foot. Of course, when it's a nasty horrible day it's pretty easy to take the lazy option. But now as I sit typing this it's a glorious day. (On that note, I really should try taking my laptop out into the garden!)
Anyway, there are certain things that I try to do to reduce the impact my car has on the planet:-
Before going up hill I accelerate in order to give the car momentum. OK, do I'll probably break the speed limit for little whilst doing this but I think it's wort

It's very worrying to read about the Albatross and all the plastic that they are consuming. I guess this is pretty much the same problem for all marine life around the globe. I even read about an Oyster Catcher getting its beak stuck in a discarded razor blade. It died because it couldn't feed itself. Surely plastic has got to be one of the worst things ever to be invented
