Green-e is the leading verification program in the country, providing independent, third party certification to ensure renewable energy products meet strict environmental and consumer protection standards set through a collaborative process with environmentalists, consumer advocates and energy experts. Constellation NewEnergy was recognized for procuring clean, renewable electricity supply for industrial and commercial customers in New York and New England. "More than 10,000 businesses purchase Green-e certified renewable energy, and the demand in the commercial market is growing," said Gabe Petlin, Green-e program manager. Green-e verification protects customers from paying for renewable energy that is "double sold" to other customers or used simultaneously to meet regulatory mandates. The Green-e logo helps consumers identify businesses whose electricity is generated from renewable sources.
