Anyway, there are certain things that I try to do to reduce the impact my car has on the planet:-
Before going up hill I accelerate in order to give the car momentum. OK, do I'll probably break the speed limit for little whilst doing this but I think it's wort it.
If I see the traffic light is at red I will begin to slow down well in advance so that I don't need to use my brakes. Other people seem to think it's OK to scream to a halt. I don't know why. Often I end up undertaking them because my car has momentum whilst they have to start from zero.
On windy country roads I find a speed that allows me to keep a constant speed on the bends as well as the straight. Often people slam on their breaks going round a bend but then come tearing up behind mean on the straight, only from them to slam on their brakes going round another bend. It's just plain silly to me.
In the heat of the summer, you will have the debate as to whether to roll down the windows or use the AC. Well, the answer is simple: If you are going at less than 45 mph then you should use the windows. Otherwise the AC is the more efficient option. On this subject, I find it strange how so many cars these days don't have a sun roof. I guess the car manufacturers don't think it necessary any more as AC becomes the norm. Oh, and another tip: whilst you have your car parked on a hot day, use one of those sun shields to keep your car cooler.
